The Old and the New

I bought the Motorola C350 in August 2005. It cost $99 including the chip, which at that time was valued $50. BTL had a promotion at the Trade Show in Belize City so I took the opportunity to buy a brand new phone.

Although it looks kind of beat up it still works well. The battery is not as good as it used to be. I have to charge it every night. I will consider selling it as an antique if I get a good offer. The numbers on the keys have rubbed off a long time ago. I was forced to memorize which one was which. Friends found it hard to use my phone to write text messages. The screen is not cracked. That is just a protective plastic that came partially off.

This cell phone has been part of me for over two years. It has been with me through good times and bad. I have rarely been parted with it for more then a few minutes. I used it to connect with friends via text and calling.

When John had the motorcylce accident in December 2005, I used it to stay connected with family and friends. I had to use the phone to call Edward in Canada and tell him that John had an accident and would probably die. (Thank God he didn't)

In the summer of 2006 I used this cell phone almost all day when working as a permitting agent for BNE. I used up $600 of credit in one month. On top of that i had people calling me every minute. The phone was a vital part of my job.

When family and friends need my help, they know they can always get a hold of me by dialing my number. I can' t count the times Anna and other family member called to discuss some problem.

I used the phone to communicate about school work with group members. Sometimes I called at inappropriate times. "Sorry for waking you to early in the morning Trac".

The Motorola C350 is a very durable phone. My total timer for all calls is 91 hrs. 57min. 28sec. I have dropped this phone countless times. Often unto a concrete floor.

Friends have been telling me for a long time that i need to upgrade. I don't see the sense in buying a new phone just for the purpose of upgrading. lol. But now I have a couple of good reasons and some not so good, so i went and bought a new phone.

Yesterday I bought a Samsung U340 for $295. It is an early Christmas gift for me. I bought it to save money. I got it connected with a post paid plan from SMART. Supposedly that way i get much better rates per minute. And texting is five cents each instead of 28 cents.

Hopefully this phone will serve me as well as my other one did. I know it's not as tough and durable so no more dropping it from heights.

The user menu is fairly simple to use so i should have that figured out soon. It is a basic phone with no unnecessary features except the camera. Don't know what the heck they put that in for.

Although I don't think the phone makes the man, it does feel good to have a new one. Good for the ego, lol. Now I don't have to hide behind a tree to answer my phone. I can hold my head high and whip out my phone, flip it open and answer it in public.

ps: Thanks freeze for buying a new phone for me. I can take it off the list now.
